Nova Menostage

Menostage, by the manufacturer Nova, is advertised as the ideal remedy for women who have begun experiencing perimenopause and menopause symptoms. The manufacturers state that it can help relieve irritability, depression, insomnia and even reduce forgetfulness. It is said to also be effective against hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and loss of libido. Big claims, so we wanted to dig a little deeper.

While we were happy to see the inclusion of a wide range of over 15 ingredients, which certainly looks impressive on the label, we were left questioning the relevance of some of them due to the lack of strong clinical evidence supporting their use. This included Ginseng, Atriplex halimus, Schizandra Berry and Alfalfa, which we are not convinced would be especially effective in helping address common perimenopause symptoms such as hot flashes, mood changes or irritability. While there may be some limited connection between these herbs and certain aspects of menopause, we felt the formula would have benefited more from higher amounts of well-known, clinically-supported ingredients such as those found in our first choice.

We appreciated the fact that Nova Menostage contains some strong ingredients, namely Black Cohosh, Red Clover, Yam and Zinc, which is certainly a positive. However, they are included in such small amounts that we seriously question how effective the formula is likely to be. Some consumers may be tempted to take more in an attempt to achieve better results, which can be a risky approach given the potential for overuse. We also felt that several of the less beneficial ingredients could have been removed altogether, allowing the more active and clinically-supported ingredients to be included at more meaningful levels.

Logos Nutritionals Eve’s Harmony 

This review examines a product called Eve’s Harmony by Logos Nutritionals. With an impressive website and informative blog, we were excited to delve deeper into the formula of these menopause pills, which are advertised as a hormone support solution for perimenopause, menopause, PMS, hot flashes and night sweats. What’s more, the manufacturer also claims that it may help with palpitations, memory loss, vaginal dryness, low libido, headaches and muscle pain.

The first thing we noticed was that they only offer a supplement for daytime use, which is a reasonable start but, in our opinion, does not do enough to address nighttime symptoms such as night sweats and insomnia. That said, the daytime formula does include several of the quality active ingredients that we look for in a high quality supplement. These include Black Cohosh, Soy, Red Clover, Yam and Chasteberry. However, we were surprised to see that Zinc had been left out entirely, particularly given how simple and inexpensive it would have been to include the recommended daily amount. 

While we were pleased to see that they offer a money-back guarantee, we were concerned that the process for claiming a refund was not clearly explained. They also did not offer any package deals, which can be a useful way for consumers to save money when using supplements over a longer period of time. That said, at around $20 per bottle, the product is relatively affordable and this is unlikely to discourage too many potential buyers. Overall, we were left disappointed by the lack of a dedicated nighttime formula to help address symptoms such as night sweats and insomnia. In addition, many of the ingredient dosages fell well below the levels we would expect to see in a quality supplement, leaving us questioning how effective the formula is likely to be.
