What is Amberen?

This review takes a look at Amberen Multi-Symptom Menopause Relief to help you decide whether or not it is worth purchasing. This menopause formula is designed to provide support to managing the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause as well as restore hormonal balance. It contains various minerals and amino acids, but it is missing many of the ingredients typically found in a menopause support supplement. Continue reading to learn more about Amberen and if it is worth purchasing.

Formula

This supplement is said to contain antioxidants, minerals, amino acids and vitamin E to help support the body in its fight against uncomfortable menopause symptoms. These ingredients include:

  • Ammonium Succinate
  • Calcium Disuccinate
  • Monosodium L-Glutamate
  • Glycine
  • Magnesium Disuccinate Hydrate
  • Zinc Difumarate Hydrate
  • Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

None of these ingredients really stand out as the typical ingredients you find in a menopause support supplement. When investigating the studies to support these ingredients to achieve all that the product claims to achieve, we couldn’t find sufficient evidence. Ingredients that have been shown to reduce hot flashes and other symptoms of menopause include Black Cohosh, Rhodiola, Chasteberry, Red Clover, and Yam to name but a few which are missing from this product. In 2015, the FTC filed a complaint against the manufacturer of Amberen for unsubstantiated claims. The customer reviews we found for this product are very mixed.

This product also contains a relatively long list of inactive ingredients. These ingredients provide no health benefits and may detract from the benefits provided by the active ingredients. These ingredients include Gelatin, Rice Flour, Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide, Titanium Dioxide, Riboflavin, Carmine, and water.

Directions

The label states to take two capsules a day, one white and one orange. It is not clear what the difference is between the different colored capsules. The dosage should be taken after breakfast and it is recommended to use the product for at least 90 days for best results.

Price

The cost of Amberen varies depending where you purchase the product. On the official site, the product sells for $39.99. We think this is quite expensive considering the ingredients don’t have much scientific evidence to support them in their use against reducing menopause symptoms.

Possible Side Effects

Although they do not give a list of what adverse reactions may occur, the manufacturers warn pregnant or nursing women and people who are currently on other medication to consult their doctors before taking Amberen.

Manufacturer’s Commitment

It seems that the manufacturer only provides a 75-day money-back guarantee. We find this strange as they recommend taking the product for at least 90 days for best results. This means that if you want to wait it out and see if the product actually works for you, you may pass the time limit on getting your money-back if it does not.

The Bottom Line

While Amberen may seem like a popular product, there is insufficient evidence to support the ingredients achieving the many claims it mentions. There are other natural ingredients missing from this product which do have clinical evidence to support them in reducing the symptoms of menopause such as Black Cohosh, Rhodiola, Chasteberry, Red Clover, and Yam. The long list of inactive ingredients is also off putting and the insufficient time frame of the money-back guarantee may suggest a lack of confidence on the part of the manufacturer. We believe that this product does not give you the best value for your money and could do better.
